The Most Valuable Antiques Ever Sold
Every record on this page is a documented, cited sale — auction house, price, source. And next to each one: a link to what ordinary examples in that category actually sell for, because that contrast is the honest story.

The Highest-Valued Item on Antiques Roadshow
The most famous find in US Antiques Roadshow history is a 1914 Patek Philippe pocket watch, brought in at a 2004 St. Paul taping and appraised at about $250,000. Research revealed it was a unique commission with 37 jewels, a split chronograph and a perpetual calendar — it sold at Sotheby's in 2006 for $1,541,212, and the show's 2018 update re-appraised it at $2–3 million. Why Your Antique (Probably) Isn't One of These
Record items share three things ordinary attic finds don't: documented provenance, extreme rarity (often unique), and condition that survived a century untouched. The honest way to value what you own is recent completed sales of items like yours — which is exactly what our category value guides are calibrated on, with the actual transactions shown. If yours genuinely resembles a record-tier item, skip eBay and talk to a specialist auction house — they take consignments and give estimates for exceptional pieces.
